The Brilliance of the Hunter’s Moon: A Year of Seeing Communication Differently

2–3 minutes

As Starry Blue Brilliance celebrates the first anniversary of its relaunch, the October full moon offers a fresh perspective on how brilliant communication reveals new possibilities in everyday experiences.

The Hunter’s Moon brightens the autumn sky, reminding us that even familiar surroundings can hold unexpected discoveries. In much the same way, looking at everyday experiences from a communication perspective can reveal insights we might otherwise miss.

This October marks the first anniversary of Starry Blue Brilliance’s relaunch, a milestone that coincides with the Hunter’s Moon during the week of October 26. The timing offers an opportunity to reflect on a year of examining how communication shapes our experiences and how those insights can inform our own interactions.

A Renewed Purpose for Starry Blue Brilliance

When Starry Blue Brilliance launched in 2013, its focus was on corporate communication best practices. The relaunch in October 2025 broadened that vision, creating a platform to explore brilliant communication across leadership, workplace experiences, storytelling, popular culture, and more.

By drawing on experiences from across everyday life, Starry Blue Brilliance connects communication principles to situations readers recognize.

At the heart of this renewed purpose is the recognition that communication influences how we interpret experiences, understand one another, and decide what comes next. The words we choose matter, but so does the meaning others take from them. Even a well-intentioned message can fall short when it overlooks what its audience needs to hear.

Recognizing these principles in our own interactions can help us understand why a message missed its mark and approach a similar challenge differently next time. Sometimes, improving our communication begins with reconsidering what we thought we understood.

What the Hunter’s Moon Brings into Focus

The Hunter’s Moon is the traditional name for the full moon following the Harvest Moon. Its name is associated with autumn hunting, when harvested fields made game easier to spot and moonlight extended visibility after sunset.

The Moon appears full when it lies opposite the Sun in Earth’s sky, allowing us to see nearly all of its Earth-facing side illuminated by reflected sunlight. Even familiar sights can reveal something new when we understand what lies behind them.

Everyday interactions can reveal how assumptions and unspoken expectations shape communication. The gap between what we intend to communicate and what others take away is where many communication challenges begin.

Closing that gap requires more than delivering information. We must recognize what may be left unsaid and consider what could help others interpret our message as intended.

A Year of Discovery, With More Ahead

One year after its relaunch, Starry Blue Brilliance has established a renewed direction for examining the role communication plays in our lives. The anniversary is an opportunity to look ahead to the questions, experiences, and emerging ideas that will continue to shape this work.

Communication is part of nearly every human endeavor, influencing how ideas take hold, how people work together, and how we navigate change. There will always be new reasons to look more closely at how we communicate and what our interactions make possible.

As Starry Blue Brilliance enters its second year, I look forward to continuing that exploration with readers who believe that the way we communicate matters. Every new perspective adds another dimension to the conversation, opening possibilities we may not yet have imagined.
